About Northern Mallee Wellbeing

Northern Mallee Wellbeing is a local initiative sharing practical, evidence-based tools for everyday wellbeing and resilience.

Developed by Mallee Wellbeing, this project makes practical self-help resources accessible to people living and working across the Northern Mallee — from Ouyen to Robinvale and nearby communities.

We combine research, local knowledge, and plain-language communication to help individuals and families strengthen their wellbeing in practical ways.

All materials are free to view, download, and print. NMW does not provide counselling or clinical services.

Our approach

  • Practical, not complicated.

  • Inclusive of all communities and cultures.

  • Grounded in the strengths of rural life — connection, effort, and self-reliance.

How the information is developed

NMW resources are based on established low-intensity cognitive behavioural approaches (LICBT). These approaches have been evaluated in peer-reviewed research and are widely used in primary mental health and stepped-care systems. Low-intensity CBT focuses on practical self-help strategies such as behavioural activation, problem-solving, graded exposure, and helpful thinking skills. NMW adapts these principles into clear, practical resources designed for everyday use in the Northern Mallee community.

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land across the Northern Mallee and pay respect to Elders past, present, and emerging.
